One Step Forward

In order to make one step forward often you need to take a couple back.  This week has been a bit like that.

The insulation foam people are due to come on Friday so the whole boat needs to be emptied of everything!  So we’ve been taking all the interior panelling and bits of galley and chart table.

Chris and Pete have been creating more dust via grinding and will all be doing more painting later this week.

We spent a fair amount of time filling the blocks with gloop (glue/sealant) to stop any water getting in at any time.  These give the impression that the boat now has some kind of tropical disease or chicken-pox .

Whilst in the process of filling the blocks with sealant, there was a strange smell developing in the garage.  On Friday the smell was finally investigated…Luckily!

On investigating an unusual loss of power accompanied by the funny smell the extension block in the garage was found to be looking somewhat dodgy…that is, in an unknown period of time we could have been looking towards an electrical fire as the plug was welded into the socket and looking quite blackened from over heating!

Other jobs this week have included lots of messy grinding and hoovering up the resulting dust in preparation for Friday.

Also we have been painting blocks that will be used to fix various bits in place

Last Wednesday also saw the attaching of a bob-stay, welded on by the nice welding man after Chris had welded the chain-plate tang…whatever that is! Apparently this is the thing that attaches the shrouds (wires) that support the mast to the boat I am reliably informed.
