About Maid of Mettle

As one might guess from the name Maid of Mettle is a steel boat – she’s a Tom Thumb 24, designed by Grahame Shannon.

She’s a very capable, and on the whole comfortable, cruising boat – this is where she’s been (that I know of!): http://skipr.net/trk/index.php?id=157

Here she is at anchor in Cawsand Bay:

and here she is under way – this picture was kindly taken by a friend as we sailed from St Mawes to the Helford River:

There’s more information on them here: http://bluewaterboats.org/roberts-tom-thumb-24/

If anyone is feeling inspired, plans are available from Bruce Roberts – but be warned, you’re in for a lot of work! Just refitting the interior was quite a task.
